Obituary of Dorothy Renee Collins

Loving mother, Dorothy Rene Collins, of Rye, New York passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Dorothy (Dottie) was born in 1923 in Butler County, Missouri. She earned an associates degree and worked at Merchantile Home Bank & Trust Co. and Hallmark Cards HQ in Kansas City. She aspired to fashion model and Air Hostess for TWA in the 1940s/50s where she met her loving husband, Edward Collins. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary shortly before his passing in 2011. Dottie was very active in local community activities including The Rye Garden Club, TWA Clipped Wings Club (former air hostesses) and The Woman's Club of Rye, for which she organized semi-annual trips to Broadway matinees for many years. Dottie is survived by her children Edward (Jose) of Lambertville, NJ; Ellen (Devin) of Sag Harbor, NY and Peter (Laurie) and grandchildren PJ, Patrick, Ryan and Liam of Wilton, CT. Final viewing is on Wednesday, August 29, 4-8pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road in Rye. Funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday, August 30th at Resurrection Church in Rye, New York.
