I am so sorry for your loss, Catherine and Linda. My memories of interacting with Mr. Neely have always been fond to me. Linda and Dean were always incredibly generous to our friends high school, graciously providing us with a welcoming environment to come together (and occasionally make a mess). Mr. Neely greeted us all with a warm smile, making sure to take the time to sit with each of us and to learn about what was going on in our lives. I can still picture where he would sit upstairs, ready to engage anyone who came up from the basement in friendly conversation. On Friday afternoons in 9th grade, we would play Mario Cart on the TV downstairs and Mr. Neely would buy us mini frozen quiches that we would snack on while we played. He and Linda were always so generous to us and their love for Catherine filled their house. When their home in Rye was torn down a few years ago, I drove by remembering all of the fun I had inside and the welcoming environment Linda and Dean provided for us all. It meant more to us than they could ever know.
I am including a photo of all of us during our senior year at Rye High School on Halloween, dressed up with Mr. Neely smiling how I will always remember him. ❤️

Mr. Neely has truly been a second father to me since the 5th grade. Every sleepover I had with Catherine would end with the tradition of mornings spent over at poppy’s cafe for pancakes when the entire staff would come sit and chat with us, as Mr. Neely was a regular. I have so many fond memories of going out to meals with Mr. Neely, like at T&J’s, where the entire staff would come over for a glass of wine with him before his signature chicken scrap. As we moved into high school, these shared meals continued while also adding in the occasion high school party at the Neely’s house, where Mr. Neely was the main attraction. People would venture out of the basement and go missing for hours as they were chatting with Mr. Neely over his incredible life stories or seeking out his wise advice. He truly had a way of making you feel so important when you were talking to him and I truly will miss those special conversations.
On another note, Mr. Neely has always been my biggest fan and most adamant supporter from day one, as every time I brought by him my latest baking project, he would assertively tell me that I HAD TO open up a bakery and insisted on being her first customer. We always bonded over our love of food and how delicious his popovers or signature smashed potatoes were. I’ll always remember the countless nights spent around the TV with an Eagles or John Mayer documentary on over some delicious food and great conversion.
Mr Neely was truly one of a kind and I’ll remember him for his hearty laughs, big smiles, great taste in music, interesting stories, and deep love of Catherine, Mrs. Neely, and all of those in his life. ❤️
Love, Liza

Missing my brother already. We were fortunate to have him visit a couple weeks ago. He was happy to meet new members of the family and enjoy talking college choices with his niece and nephew. We were able to catch up one on one. I'll miss the weekend calls talking about cooking and his most cherished love, Catherine. He was always proud and happy to share her world with me. RIP dear brother. Debbie
