Obituary of Donna May Briganti

Donna May Briganti, a resident of Harrison, NY, Narragansett, RI, and South Daytona, Florida, and formerly of Mamaroneck, NY, passed away on July 2, 2023, at the age of 69. Donna was the daughter of Nicholas and Sophia Szczerba. She graduated from Rye High School and later from Westchester Community College. 

Along with employment at United Hospital in Port Chester, NY and Midland School in Rye, Donna worked for many years as a talented fitness instructor, inspiring and mentoring others with her love of dance exercises and aerobics. Donna was a talented home decorator and enjoyed crafting, thrifting, and collecting sea glass. Her laugh was contagious and boisterous. Donna was an excellent cook who for many years enjoyed hosting members of her large family where she resided in Florida and Rhode Island and formerly in Mamaroneck, NY. She loved spending time with her husband, James, their two children and their spouses and most of all her beloved grandchildren, departing this earth for heaven on her 52nd wedding anniversary. 

Donna is survived by her loving husband James; son James (Jimmy) and his wife Jean; daughter Tracy Merolle and her husband Thomas; grandchildren: Dylan Odell, Julia and Tyler Merolle, Isanze Nudalo and Istella Briganti; siblings: Yoli (Lawrence) Broglio, George (Dawn) Szczerba, Irene (Peter) Swanson, Nicholas Szczerba, Michelle (Joe) Topolosky, Laura Waurishuk, Regina Wortmann, Doreen (Lou) Perella; as well as many nieces and nephews. Donna is predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Sophia Szczerba and brothers Richie and Eddie Szczerba. 

A Memorial Service will be celebrated at the Graham Funeral Home on July 26, 2023, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in Donna’s name to www.JDRF.org.
