Obituary of Yoheris Phillips

Yoheris "Yoyo" Phillips, 61, resident of Rye Brook since 2008 , passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2023. Her kind, loving heart touched the lives of her family, friends and many in her community. Yoheris was predeceased by her mother Teresita Saldivia Phillips,is survived by her father, Robert, her brother Bobby, sister-in-law Donna, nephews Robby and Nicholas. 

Yoheris was born in Queens, NY, and lived in both NYC and Caracas, Venezuela. She spent most of her formative years in Caracas in the company of her uncles, aunts and many cousins. Her passion for singing and dancing was known by all. She was an outstanding student at Colegio Internacional de Caracas class of 1980 and received her Bachelor's degree from Manhattanville College in 1985. She spent much of her adult life tutoring both adults and children in Spanish and English. She was a devoted member of her Church and a consummate reader and translator of scriptures from English to Spanish. 

A service in loving memory of Yoheris will be held on Sunday May 21, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Graham Funeral Home in Rye, NY.

Yoheris "Yoyo" Phillips, de 61 años, residente de Rye Brook desde 2008, falleció inesperadamente el 17 de mayo de 2023. Su corazón amable y amoroso tocó la vida de su familia, amigos y muchos en su comunidad. La sobreviven su padre, Robert, su hermano Bobby, su cuñada Donna, sus sobrinos Robby y Nicholas. Su madre, Teresita Salvidivia Phillips, falleció en 2022. 

Yoheris nació en Queens, NY y vivió tanto en NYC como en Caracas, Venezuela. Pasó la mayor parte de sus años de juventud en Caracas en compañía de sus tíos, tías y muchos primos. Su pasión por el canto y el baile era conocida por todos. Fue una estudiante destacada en el Colegio Internacional de Caracas en la promoción de 1980 y recibió su licenciatura en Manhattanville College en 1985. Pasó gran parte de su vida adulta enseñando español e inglés tanto a adultos como a niños. Era una miembro devota de su Iglesia y una consumada lectora y traductora de las Escrituras del inglés al español. 

Se llevará a cabo un servicio en memoria de Yoheris en Graham Funeral Home en Rye, NY el domingo 21 de Mayo de 1:00 pm a 4:00 pm.
