Obituary of Kathleen Duffy

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kathleen Duffy on April 2, 2023, at White Plains Hospital. She departed this life following a brief illness surrounded by her children.

Kathleen was born on July 26, 1937, in Louisburgh, County Mayo, Ireland, and was raised on a farm by her parents, Patrick and Mary Cannon. She immigrated to the Bronx, New York, in 1955 to reunite with extended family and later married Martin Duffy, a union carpenter, also from Louisburgh. Together, they raised six children in Rye, NY and created a loving home for their family.  Kathleen is pre-deceased by her husband Martin and beloved daughter Mary.

As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend her warm smile and infectious personality could light up a room. She made a career as a realtor in Rye while contributing her time as a CCD teacher at Resurrection School, where she was a parishioner for 55 years. She was an active volunteer for United Hospital and P.O.TS. program—a Bronx based, food security advocacy organization.

Kathleen's love for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable.  She will be deeply missed by her children, Helena, Kathy (John), Martin (Sheila), Sean (Anita), and Patrick (Sasha), her 15 grandchildren, her sisters and brother, and her many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Resurrection Church in Rye on Wednesday, April 12, at 10:00 am. The Mass will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person. To view the livestream link, please click here.

Kathleen's passing is a great loss to her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen's name can be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, Bronx, N.Y.
