Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Barbara Ann Carvin (nee Hickey) died peacefully on January 9, 2023, at the age of 93. Barbara was born on October 26, 1929, in Staten Island, New York to Tom and Grace Hickey. She Married Joseph Edward Carvin in 1954 and was the mother of three children, Joseph Jr, Michael, and Lisa.

Prior to her marriage, she graduated from Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts where she was president of her class before working at Mario Buccellati jewelry store in New York, after having traveled extensively in Europe leading to a lifetime love of travel.

After growing up in Scarsdale, New York, Barbara raised her family in Port Chester, NY where she was very involved in local community activities ranging from Our Lady of Mercy church to the little league, the boys and girls scouts, and the Fresh Air Fund. She enjoyed summertime activities with her family at Westchester Country Club.

After her kids moved on, she worked in the guidance department of Western Middle School pursuing her love of learning and travel while always finding time to volunteer, often serving as a mentor to troubled teens.

More than anything, Barbara enjoyed her time with her family where she played an influential role in the lives of her three children, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her husband pre-deceased her in 2011 after 57 years of marriage as did her brother Michael Hickey. She will be remembered as a warm and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother always providing loving support to her family, her extended family, and friends from across the globe.
