Obituary of Joseph Angilello

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Wednesday, October 19th, Joseph (Giuseppe) Angilello died in his bed, in his home, within his beloved city of Rye, as he had lived so much of his life…on his own terms.  Throughout his fifty-five years as a Rye citizen, he could often be heard chuckling to himself that he had not done so badly as a boy from the Bronx.  He reveled in his work as an engineer at IBM Research Center and in the many second acts that followed his retirement.  Never content to sit still, he reinvented himself numerous times as a scuba diver, sailor, Harbor Master, Rye YMCA lifeguard, swim instructor, entrepreneur, and tinkerer extraordinaire.  During his long life, he served country and community by serving in the Army during the Korean War and as a Boy Scout leader for decades.  Cecelia, his beloved wife of nearly sixty years preceded him into eternal life in 2014.  Joe leaves behind three children; JoAnn (Rick), Joseph Jr. (Marsha), and Steven (Maureen), seven grandchildren; Autumn, Tommy, William, Jenna, Matthew, Dustin, and Tyler, and four great grandchildren; Sophia, Graison, Benjamin, and Amelia.  He also leaves behind a beloved brother, Ronald, his wife Marsha, and numerous nieces and nephews.
