Obituary of Lioe Lie

Lioe "Lily" Lie was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away suddenly on September 20, 2022 at the age of 90 in Armonk, NY, where she had moved from San Jose, CA (and prior to that, Elm Grove, WI) to be closer to family. 

Lily loved creating things - from paintings to pottery to beadwork; gardening; and travel. She shared her love of learning with her grandchildren as well as all of the countless visitors at the Tech Museum in San Jose where she volunteered for over a decade. She loved trying new recipes, some of which became part of her course when she taught a Chinese cooking class, and enjoyed hula dancing and playing the ukulele.  

Lily is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-laws (Ying and Robert, Yang and Scott, Yung and Bret), six grandchildren, sister Nieke, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Tjing Hien, sister Hermine, and brother, Swie-In. Her kind heart, generous spirit, and bright smile will be missed by all.

Lily will be honored in a future celebration of life. Donations to Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation are welcome in her memory.
