Obituary of Alice Marie Reilly

Alice Marie Reilly, 89, of Rye, New York, passed away on September 29, 2016. She was an artist and a loving family matriarch. Alice Reilly was born in Brooklyn, New York to John and Alice Kelly on February 4, 1927. She graduated from St. Brendan High School in Brooklyn, New York. She married Peter A. Reilly in 1946. They moved from Brooklyn to Fords, New Jersey and then to Virginia, where she lived for 30 years, before returning to New York. She was a Phi Beta Kappa student in Art History in Northern Virginia Community College. After caring for her family, she returned to work at and retired from AT&T. Retirement gave her an opportunity to pursue her passion, painting, at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia and then at the Rye Art Center, where her paintings received awards. She enjoyed her involvement in The Rye Women’s Club, serving as Head of the Art Committee and was the selected as Honoree of the Year in 2005 for her dedicated service. Alice Reilly is survived by her sister Patricia Roche and her husband Jack Roche of New York City, her daughter Maureen Marston and her husband Jeffrey Marston of Williamsburg, Virginia, her son Kevin Reilly and his wife Brenda Seidner Reilly of New York City. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Kelly Marston, Emily Marston and Michael Reilly; grandsons-in-law John Chakan and Nelson Lafon and her four beloved great grandchildren, Reilly, Aidan and Fallon Marston Chakan and Malon Marston Lafon. In addition, she leaves her niece Janet Roche and nephew Keith Roche and family. She is preceded in death by her husband Peter A. Reilly and both her parents. She was dearly loved and will be missed. Memorial donations may be made in Alice’s name to the Rye Art Center.
