Obituary of Jean Lawrence Konopka

Jean Lawrence Konopka passed away peacefully at her home on December 15th, 2021. She was 100 years old, born to the late Anita and William Lawrence in New York City on February 18, 1921. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Theodore R. Konopka. They married at the Rye Presbyterian Church on June 1, 1946. She is also predeceased by her two brothers, Roger Lawrence and Bill Lawrence. Her family enjoyed living in Rye, New York, for 88 years. Jean graduated from Rye High School and was a big fan and supporter of the Rye Garnet football team for many years.

She leaves her 3 devoted children, Judy Konopka Lennon (Bill), St. Augustine, Florida; Theodore R. Konopka, Jr. (Liza), Rye, New York; and Lynn Lawrence Latiak, Greenwich, Connecticut. She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, William Lennon (Debby), St. Augustine, Florida; Lynden Latiak (Joyce), Riverside, Connecticut; Shawn Lennon (Alma), St. Augustine, Florida; and Noelle Jean Gmitter, Greenwich, Connecticut. She cherished her 5 special great-grandchildren Cali, Kendall, and Blake Lennon and Violet and Tripp Latiak. Jean leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, neighbors, friends, and her little faithful dog, Freckles.

Jean was a member of St. Peter's Church in Port Chester, New York, for many years where she had been a member of the Vestry and a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Rye Fish and Game Club in Rye, and enjoyed many years of boating with her husband and family on their several boats, all named the Lar-Kon. In later years Jean enjoyed being a member of the Rye Seniors.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home on Sunday, December 19th, from 2pm to 5pm, The funeral service will be Monday at 10am at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Calvary Hospice, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
