Lucia Fasolino Scarlato passed away on February 28, 2021. She was born in Port Chester, NY to Catherine Massinello Fasolino and Emil A. Fasolino. She graduated from Port Chester High School, and prior to raising her own family, Lucia worked for an import and export company, Indussa Corporation, in New York City. On January 22, 1961, Lucia married John G. Scarlato, Sr. at Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester. She and John built a house in Rye Brook where they established a life and raised their two children, Donna and John, Jr. They were parishioners of Corpus Christi Church for many years, and Lucia was an active member of the PTA for the Blind Brook schools. Once her children were a little older, she returned to the workforce. Eventually, she began working at Rye Country Day School where she worked for more than 30+ years in the administration office retiring in 2013. Lucia and John enjoyed ballroom dancing, and they attended weekly dances where they made life-long friends. They also enjoyed traveling to different places such as visiting her niece Cathy in Florida, taking cruises, and touring Italy. They spent many summers up at Copake Lake with extended family where they enjoyed boating, waterskiing, and tubing. In more recent years, Lucia continued to enjoy ballroom dancing after her husband’s passing. She became a member of the Southern Westchester NY Elks Lodge. Under the guidance of her son, John, who is an architect, she built a vacation home overlooking Copake Lake with a beautiful view. She enjoyed going to the lake and entertaining family and friends and continued to enjoy boating and even went snowmobiling on the lake. Since 2015, Lucia was a resident at The Osborne in Rye, NY where she enjoyed eating meals with her new friends, participating in the many activities offered to the residents such as arts and crafts, watching movies, and going to concerts. She especially enjoyed visits from her grandson, Sean. Lucia is survived by her son, John (Kim) of Armonk, NY, and her daughter, Donna (Ron) of Rye, NY, and three grandchildren, Sean, Melissa, and Nicole. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1996 and by her brother, Anthony Fasolino, and her two sisters, Josephine Fasolino and Catherine Scatenato. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of the Resurrection, 910 Boston Post Road, Rye, NY, on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook.
