Brother Thomas Andrew Prendergast C.F.C. passed away on November 6, 2020 at the age of 60. Br. Prendergast was born on November 18, 1959 in New York, the son of Thomas J. and Dorothy Prendergast Lees. After graduating from St. Margaret’s Elementary School in Pearl River, NY and Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, NJ, he went on to Iona College where he received a BS in Biology, Harvard University earning his MED in Math and Science and graduating with his MS in Biology from University of California, Irvine. Brother Prendergast entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers on September 7, 1977, professing his final vows on June 18, 1988. His ministry took him to several schools including, Rice High School, Catholic Memorial High School, in West Roxbury, MA, Archbishop Curley-ND High School, Miami, FL, Trinity Catholic High School Ocala, FL and Iona Prep. Br. Prendergast died at Montefiore Hospital-New Rochelle. He was predeceased by his father Thomas J. and his mother Dorothy. He is survived by his brother John, his sister-in-law, Jerri, his niece Courtney and his nephew Thomas. Due to Covid-19 a private wake and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Graham Funeral Home, Rye and Holy Family Church, New Rochelle. These services will be for Brothers, family and close friends to honor Covid restrictions. Interment will be at the Christian Brothers’ Cemetery in West Park, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Brother Prendergast’s memory to St. Joseph’s Residence, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle, NY 10804.
