Obituary of Thomas Alfred Corcoran

Thomas Alfred Corcoran passed away on October 10, 2020 in Stamford, CT after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Josephine Corcoran. He is survived by his 5 siblings, D S Corcoran III, Patrick J Corcoran, Terence M Corcoran, Sheila M Corcoran (Bruenn), Jane A Corcoran and niece and nephew, Jessica Jane Bruenn and Patrick Lawrence Bruenn. Born on Feb 8, 1954 in Bronxville, NY, his education began at St. Joseph’s Grammar School, Bronxville NY and continued on to Christian Brothers at Iona Prep, New Rochelle NY, finishing high school at Harrison High, Harrison NY. He then moved onto A/A Dean Junior College in Massachusetts. He spent many years in the Visual Merchandising industry supporting many high end retail stores across the country. His exposure to this field began with him working at his Father's company, DS Corcoran Inc. He then moved on to work for Pucci International and then Alu located in NYC. This provided him the opportunity to travel to the far east and many areas in Europe over the course of the nearly 20 years he spent in the industry. He then decided to change careers and became a Financial Advisor for Prudential and then Wells Fargo before starting up his own business, Corcoran Capital Management located in Stamford, CT. He was an avid reader and was well versed in history, politics and a wide array of cultural subjects. He loved sports, playing golf with his friends and working in the garden. He most especially loved to laugh and listen to a wide range of music while engaging in spirited debates on a variety of topics with his friends and loved ones. He will be missed by his family and the many friends he made during his life's journey. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 23, 2020. A Catholic Mass will commence at 10am at Resurrection Church located at 910 Boston Post Road in Rye, NY with burial immediately following at Greenwood Union Cemetery located at 215 North Street in Rye, NY.
