In loving memory of Ellen Bent Browne, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend, who passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the age of 79. A resident of Mamaroneck, New York for nearly 20 years, she was born Ellen Jane Bent in Marlboro Massachusetts, the daughter of Bertha and Allan Bent. Previously, Ellen resided in Rye, New York, where she raised her children. A graduate of Marymount College who earned a bachelor’s degree in French, Ellen worked on Wall Street early in her career. For many years, she was a member of the 26th Twig, a charitable organization affiliated with the United Hospital, formerly in Port Chester, NY. Ellen was also a longtime member of the Larchmont Shore Club. Ellen will always be remembered as an optimistic and supportive friend and a kind and giving person with a love of life. She carried herself with dignity and grace throughout her life and rose to any and all of life’s challenges. Ellen is survived by her daughter, Amy Villalba, of Mamaroneck; her son, Peter Browne, of Bernardsville NJ, and his wife Caroline; and three grandchildren: Lindsay, Andrew, and Lauren Browne, of Bernardsville. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 45 years, James Austin Browne. A Funeral Mass in honor of Ellen will be held on Friday, March 18th, at 10:00 am at the Church of the Resurrection, Rye, New York. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions are welcomed at either the Open Door of Port Chester, NY, a family medical center serving the people of Westchester County (www.opendoormedical.org), or Part of the Solution, providing food and social services to help lift families from poverty in the Bronx (www.potsbronx.org),
