I was deeply saddened to hear of Jack Hartigan’s passing. When I was in my teens, he visited us in Parkchester on many occasions. He was my father’s driver—Lieutenant Joe Cribbin—at that time, and they were great friends. A few years back I met Jack at a police social with my husband John. He told me how my father encouraged him to study and take the tests! Jack, of course, did that and was a wonderful success story. I remember his big Irish smile and handsome face. I have wonderful memories of him and those days. Peace to all of you and know that you are in our prayers.

Dear Patricia Malmquist/Lisa Ashton/Steve Hartigan Families, What a true Irish gentleman you came from! Jack was warm and wonderful sharing his love of the Yankees or always up for a Coveleigh swim. NY’s Finest will be missed but never forgotten! Cherish your memories and live life as he did. RIP Jack with your beloved Irene. Claire & Joe Strupp Family, NJ

So very sorry to hear of Jacks passing. I first met him in 1968 in the traffic division, and remained friends with both Jack and his best friend ,Tom Ryan, throughout the years. We went to numerous NY Giant games, and NYPD Florida reunions throughout the years, and I can honestly say I've never seen him without that smile and friendly demeanor. He will be sorely missed, but a consolation is that he's together with his friend Tom Ryan once again. Thanks for the wonderful friendship Jack, until we meet again. John Corcoran
