Sean was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Leominster when we were in 7th grade. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My heart breaks for his family. Thoughts & prayers today.

The memories I have with Sean are countless. I was instrumental in hiring him for his first job on Wall Street at Bear Stearns. I was Sean's first manager and along with many of our past municipal finance colleagues from the Bear Stearns "bullpen" we developed a lifelong friendship based on camaraderie, respect and love. Our bond was so strong that I decided to join him at ParkWest in 2014. Sean was a brother to me and when his father passed I drove to Massachusetts unannounced to support him and his family at the funeral. He had no idea I would attend, but I owed him my support because he was always there for me. I am at a loss for words now that I will no longer hear his voice. My heartfelt condolences to Theresa, Aidan, Caroline, and Leo as well as the rest of the family. May his soul Rest in Peace.

My family moved to Leominster when I was about 3 years old. Sean was the first kid I can remember meeting, before kindergarten. I guess you could say that he was my first friend. We grew in a couple of houses away from each other, in the corner of our neighborhood, with nothing but the woods behind us where I can remember exploring with him, building forts, sledding, catching frogs, and getting into all kinds of trouble. We walked together to our bus stop every day through the eight grade. I remember a very specific prank we played, right before Christmas. He and I both had Nintendo and were going to get new games. Our parents had learned that we could always find where they hid the presents, and tried various ways to prevent us from getting into them before Christmas morning. One strategy was to wrap the presents and hide them. Sean and I devised a plan to carefully open the present, open the game, put an old one back into the box, and play the new game a month before Christmas. Seemed great at the time, but I remember talking with him later on about how on Christmas morning it was a bummer because all we got was our old game back... In high school, we spent a lot less time together, new friends and different interests and all. But that never changed the fact that we had so many shared memories, shared vacations, and a shared sense of "where we came from." During our reunions, I remember spending a lot of time catching up with him and telling old stories, like not a day had passed. When I heard the news that we had lost him, I was devastated. The Dougherty family was more than just neighbors, they were kin. My heart goes out to his mother and sisters. I tremble at the thought of who his children have lost. We are all better people, though, having known him and his warmth and sense of humor. Rest in peace, old friend.
