Bro. John Holden, Kabwe, Zambia
My first acquaintance with Paul goes back to his younger days when he was one of my theology lecturers at Iona College from 1965 to 1967. He and the late Bro. Paddy Doyle brought new life and energy to us student brothers by introducing us to a variety of contemporary theologians of the day. They were great teachers and mentors to us at Iona, along with late Brs. Mark Egan, Jack Driscoll, and David McKenna. It was in their classes that I became acquainted with the spiritualities of two giant Catholic civil rights and anti-Vietnam War activists, Thomas Merton and Dorthey Day. Paul was a positive influence in my life. His death has brought back some pleasant memories of the days when he and Paddy Doyle lectured us in theology, and of those happy and carefree days as young Brothers at Iona. My thoughts and prayers are very much with his family and his Brothers at St. Joseph’s Residence. May he rest now in eternal peace.

Condolences and prayers on Brother Hennesy's passing.
I remember him fondly as a mentor and professor at Iona and during my time as a Brother in formation.
Brother's Theology Class was my very last class at Iona in 1979.
I still recall the phrase he wrote on the board: "Festina Lente" -- Make Haste Slowly.
Go with God Paul,
Kevin Worth (Philip)

Dear Brothers and members of the Hennessy Family,
My deepest condolences and prayers for Br Paul's repose. He was my first religious superior (St Joseph's Hall, 1973), and his wisdom, kindness, understanding, and joviality are what I remember most about him. He was also a fine professor and a good role model in so many ways I am deeply saddened by his death.
May the angels lead him into Paradise,
Rev. Michael Patella, OSB

To Brother Paul's Family, Friends, and our Christian Brothers I offer my condolences. With Brothers Vic Chapman, Patty Doyle, Mark Egan, Jarlath Hunt, Kevin Fish, Mike Delaney, and Phil Considine (to mention just a few), Paul has come to mean a lot to us 'younger' Brothers from our initial formation years and throughout our years in continuing formation right to the present. (We're only in our 70s now!) Brother Paul in particular touched the future for us way back then with a prophetic vision of Brotherhood that continues even now to be very much our way into the future. He accepted each of us just as we were, with all our warts and failings, and goodness (or at least all our good intentions), and he gently challenged and prepared us - through his ministry of teaching and good example - to be truly better and real Brothers for the 21st century and, for that matter, truly better and real human beings. We at St. Joseph's Residence will miss him. Slán abhaile, Pablo, may you have a safe journey home, to the heavenly place God has lovingly prepared for you from all eternity. V. Gregory McNally, CFC
