I had Br. O'Keefe for math while I was at O'Dea HS from 1962-66. He was an outstanding teacher, and more importantly, an outstanding human being. It was clear that he really cared about us as people.
I remember him telling us about growing up in a tough neighborhood and how there were rumbles every Saturday night between rival gangs, guys out there with chains, clubs, etc. He said, "Then there's some guy who's fighting fair - he's just got a roll of dimes in his fist." We all cracked up.
As an all-boys school, we had cheerleaders from the five Catholic girls schools in the area. They all had crushes on him.
Here's his 1964 yearbook picture.
May your spirit live long and prosper, Brother.

Brother O’Keefe was my favorite Brother and teacher while I was a student at Leo HS in Chicago. He had a way of talking with you that made you feel important. He never put u down, but always pulled you up. He has always been in my best memories of my HS years. God bless him and his entire family. He will always be in my heart.
