Obituary of Coreen Mehrtens

Coreen, of Rye, NY, was the loving wife of Allan Mehrtens, and sister to Richard (Kim), and Jeffrey (Caroline). She was also the awesome aunt of Ryan Jeffrey Bourke and Alicia Marie Clift (nee Bourke). After a many years career with Verizon, Coreen followed her lifelong dream of acting and modeling in the New York City area-something she became very good at. She was very successful as a print model, and appeared in many photo advertisements, as well as several commercials that were shown repeatedly in the NY area. She played small roles in movies with such notables as Sarah Jessica Parker, Matt Damon, Ryan Reynolds, Nicole Kidman, Adam Sandler, as well as many more well known actors. In addition to her acting career, simultaneously Coreen volunteered as a Big Apple Greeter, which is an organization that gives one on one tours to small groups of out-of-towners of popular tourist attractions in NYC.During her tenure with BAG (no, she didn't mind being called a BAG lady), she met 143 groups of visitors totaling 220 people! She was mostly fond of giving tours to families that were referred to BAG by the "Make-A-Wish" organization. But mostly, Coreen was known for the joy that she brought into everyone she ever encountered's lives, She maintained the most gracious, uplifting "pure spirit" that was so infectious that no one could EVER forget how kind, loving, caring, and outrageously funny she was! She will be deeply and forever missed by friends and family, too numerous to count. The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home in Rye, NY on Friday February 28, 2020 from 4:00 -8:00 PM and on Saturday February 29, 2020 from 10:30-11:30 AM. Immediately follwing the visitation on Saturday, a Prayer Service will be held at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Coreen’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
