Obituary of Bernard G. Cather

Rye NY. Bernard George Cather, 63, passed away on January 29th at White Plains Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Bernie, the 7th of 9 children was born to Donald W. and Maxine Cather on January 22nd 1957 in Evanston, IL. The family moved to Port Chester, NY in 1960. His father’s work took the family to Atlanta, GA in 1974. Bernie remained in Georgia where he honed his carpentry skills returning to Rye in 2012 where he continued his carpentry. Bernie was preceded in death by his father Donald, brothers; Terry, Andrew and Peter and his sister Jeanne. He is survived by his mother Maxine, Coltons Pt., MD, brother, Donald Jr. (Mary), Coltons Pt. MD, sisters, Judy Kane (Richard), Nashville TN, Martha McGuire (Jerry), Rye NY and Samantha Geiler (Willie), Monroe NY. He is also survived by 8 nephews and 12 nieces whom he enjoyed spending time with as well as 9 great-nephews, 5 great nieces and a great-great niece. Bernie was an avid reader and enjoyed solving challenging crossword puzzles. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at White Plains Hospital for their professional and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the American Lung Association.
