Obituary of James C. Dolce

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
June 13, 1948 – January 5, 2020 Rye – James Cluen Dolce, 71, of Rye, NY died peacefully on January 5, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born June 13, 1948 in Rye to the late Dr. John J. Dolce and Muriel C. Dolce. Jamie was a graduate of Canterbury School in New Milford, CT and Villanova University, where he played on the men’s hockey team. On May 10, 1975 he married Wendy Silliman at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Fairfield, CT. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved from New York City to Rye, where they raised their three boys and where Wendy still lives today. Jamie worked in commercial real estate in New York City and Westchester County before ultimately starting his own firm, Dolce National Real Estate, in 1990. He was a long standing member of the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives (NACORE). Jamie attended Resurrection Grammar School and was a devout parishioner at Resurrection Church his entire life. He taught CCD for Resurrection for over ten years. Jamie could often be found on the Little League fields when his sons were growing up - he was a coach in Rye for over a decade. He loved to golf and was a member of the Apawamis Club in Rye and Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club in New Durham, NH. As a child, Jamie and his family spent their summers on Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He carried this tradition on with his own family, and Lake Wentworth is a place he held near and dear to his heart. If you ever needed to find Jamie on a warm summer day, he was likely in the lake, swimming with his grandchildren. Jamie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and he was a great friend. Many would say Jamie was the life of the party, always on the dance floor and enjoying a good time with those he loved. Jamie is predeceased by his parents and his brother John E. Dolce. He will be fondly missed by his wife Wendy of over 44 years, along with his son Frederick and his wife Kerri and their children, Benjamin, Wyatt and William of Stratham, New Hampshire; his son James and his wife Olivia and their children, Emily, Charlotte, James and Thomas of Marblehead, Massachusetts; and his son Christopher of Rye. He is also survived by his sister June E. Heffernan and her husband Jack of Rye, brother Donn C. Dolce and his wife Nora of Rye, sister in-law Beth Dolce of Harrision, NY and his many nieces and nephew. A wake will be held on Thursday, January 9th from 4 to 7pm at the Graham Funeral Home in Rye. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 10th at 10am at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to one of the two following organizations, both of which Jamie was a longtime supporter. The Wentworth Watershed Association (https://wentworthwatershed.org/); St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 251 Meadow St, Sanbornville, NH 03872.
