Joseph L. Checco passed away peacefully at his home in Rye on April 11, 2018. Born on July 17, 1932 in Port Chester, NY, he was the son of Antonino and Carmella (nee Zaccagnino) Checco. After graduating from Port Chester High School, he faithfully served his country in the US Army. He began his working career with Microphase in Byram, CT from 1957 to 1976. He completed his career working for the Dept. of Defense in quality control, retiring in 1998.

Joseph married Filomena Giordano on September 8, 1957 in Corpus Christi Church, Port Chester, NY. Together they raised their seven children. He dedicated his life to providing for his family. He enjoyed reading, golf, family vacations, bowling and spending time with his family, especially his 11 grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Filomena, seven children: Joseph, Anthony (Jeanne), Mary Chew (Brandon), Mike, John (Angie), Paul (Mary-Jo) and Christopher; eleven grand children: TJ, Angela, Melissa, Steven, Michael, Connor, Brian, Julian, Isabella, Jack and Maya.

The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Friday April 13 from 5 PM to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 14, 2018 at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye at 10 AM.
