Obituary of Leone Larsen Cox

Leone Larsen Cox of Rye, New York passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018. She was 95 years old.

Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and raised three children in Rye where she and her husband, B.G. Cox lived since 1961. Before that, Leone was a stewardess for United Airlines in the late 1940’s.

Mrs. Cox was born on February 10, 1923 in Mount Pleasant, Utah. She graduated from the University of Utah where she earned a BA degree in Music. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was a member of The Apawamis Club, American Yacht Club and most recently for the past 8 years, the Westchester Country Club where she resided. Mrs. Cox also was a member of The Twig Organization that volunteered and raised funds for local community hospitals.

A resident of Rye for the past 57 years, she is survived by her three children: two daughters, Anne Cox Zahringer of New York, NY, Karen Cox Mandy of Rye, NY and a son, Robert H. Cox of Marco Island, FL and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 7 at the Rye Presbyterian Church at 1:00 PM with a reception following at the American Yacht Club.
