Please share a memory of Dr. Isadore to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The family of Dr. Isadore Rosenfeld is sad to announce his passing on Tuesday, January 30th, at the age of 91, from complications related to the flu. Dr. Rosenfeld died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.

Isadore Rosenfeld was born in Montreal, Canada, where he attended McGill University (both the College and the Medical School). In 1956 he married Camilla Master of New York City, daughter of Dr. Arthur M. Master, a preeminent cardiologist with a private practice at 125 East 72nd Street. Dr. Rosenfeld joined that practice in 1958, and he remained in active medical practice at that same location for the next 53 years. At the time of his retirement in 2011, Dr. Rosenfeld was the Ida and Theo Rossi Distinguished Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York Presbyterian Medical Center.

Caring for patients was Dr. Rosenfeld’s greatest love (after his family), but he also devoted himself to making the practice and language of medicine accessible to the lay public. He wrote 11 bestselling books, including The Complete Medical Exam, Second Opinion, and Power to the Patient. He was a gifted communicator, passionate and compassionate, and his wit, wisdom and breadth of expertise made him a popular and enduring presence in the media. From Health Editor of Parade Magazine to his regular appearances on television (The CBS Morning News, Hour Magazine, Sunday House Call with Dr. Rosenfeld…)his media presence spanned four decades. His autobiography, Doctor of the Heart, was published in 2010.

In addition to his many academic awards, honorary degrees and positions, Dr. Rosenfeld received the Grand Uciale - Italian Order of Merit from the Government of Italy, Citizen of the World from the United Nations, and Research!America’s Advocacy Award for Impact on Public Opinion Through the Media.

Dr. Rosenfeld is survived by his wife, Camilla, his four children, Arthur, Stephen, Hildi and Herbert, their spouses, his nine adoring grandchildren, his patients and the millions who were touched by the integrity, humor and caring of “America’s Doctor.”
