Obituary of Br. Thomas Eugene Guihen CFC

Rev. Brother Thomas Eugene Guihen C.F.C. passed away on September 3, 2017 at the age of 79.  Brother Guihen was born on November 11, 1937 in the Bronx, NY, the son of Thomas Guihen and Margaret Flynn Guihen.  After graduating from St. Anselm’s Elementary School and All Hallows High School, Br. Guihen graduated from Iona College receiving his BA in History, St. John’s University receiving his MA in Theology and an MA in History and his MA in Administration and Supervision from Hunter College.

Brother Guihen entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers on July 2, 1955 and pronounced his final vows on June 27, 1963.  His ministry took him to many positions including Iona Grammar School, Briscoe Orphanage,Washington State,  Cardinal Hayes, Rice High School  as Principal, Iona Preparatory School, Bergen Catholic High School as teacher and later as Superior, Tertianship Renewal Program in Rome Italy, Bishop Hendricken High School, Rhode Island, as Superior, Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School, Schenectady, and St. Joseph’s Residence Community, New Rochelle.

 Brother Guihen was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Margaret.  He is survived by his cousins Helen Lehmann, Peggy Sheehy, Bernadette Stemcovski, and Kathleen Sullivan.

 A wake will be held at St. Joseph’s Residence, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle, NY 10804 on Thursday September7, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Mayflower Ave., New Rochelle, NY on Friday at 9:30 AM.  Interment will be at the Christian Brothers Cemetery in West Park, NY.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Joseph’s Residence, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle, NY 10804.
