Obituary of Bradley Becker

Please share a memory of Bradley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bradley H. Becker of Greenwich, CT, formerly of Rye, NY passed away May 17 shortly after his 84th birthday.  Bradley was predeceased by his parents Harold and Gladys Becker and his sister Beverley (Becker) Feeney.

A 1951 Rye High School graduate, Bradley studied commercial art at Syracuse University.  For many years he was owner of the “Bookworm” book store on Harrison’s Halstead Avenue.  Subsequently Brad became the Associate Director of the Harrison Public Library. The Library’s significant building expansion and physical plant renovation were completed during Brad’s career at the Library.

Bradley also consulted to various Westchester and Fairfield libraries, free-lanced as a commercial artist specializing in publicity posters and volunteered in the Guidance Department of Greenwich’s Western Junior High School as a role model counseling at-risk middle school students.

Brad was an occasional “Broadway Angel” extending his artistic bent to the Great White Way, while locally he was involved in community theater groups and summer stock performances.  His love for the seashore whether in Cape Cod, Rhode Island, Todd’s Point (Greenwich) and Rye Beach filled his summers.

He was a very special influence in the lives of his nephew, Stephen Feeney of Rye and his niece Jessica (Feeney) Antico also of Rye and their families.  His nine great nieces and nephews revered Brad in a special grandfatherly way.  Brad greatly enjoyed all family holiday and birthday celebrations and will be remembered for his creativity, sense of humor and high spirits.

A Memorial Service will be held at Rye Presbyterian Church, 882 Boston Post Road, Rye on Saturday, May 27 at 11:00 AM in celebration of a life well-lived.
