Obituary of Kathleen Delaney Schafer

Kathleen Delaney Schafer of Rye Brook, New York passed away on April 10, 2017. She is reunited again with her adored husband, Louis Arthur Schafer. Beloved mother of Barbara, Carol (husband Thomas Yates), Patricia Branthover (husband Robert), Daniel (wife Alexandra) and Kathleen Testerman (husband Doyce). Cherished grandmother of Timothy and Madeline Branthover, Izabella and Carolena Schafer, and Kaylee, Sean and Zoe Testerman. Kay will be missed by her dear sisters Mary O'Rourke and Rose Taylor and brother Thomas Delaney, and her beloved nieces and nephews. She enjoyed visiting with friends of all ages, many of whom were recipients of her hand-crafted notecards and beautifully detailed quilts, and welcomed all into her home for good cheer and something freshly baked. She had a lifelong love of mathematics and chemistry that grew out of her undergraduate years at The College of Mount Saint Vincent and her Fulbright study in Mainz, Germany. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 12th from 4:00-8:00 PM at Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye, New York. Funeral mass at 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 13th at The Church of the Resurrection, 910 Boston Post Road, Rye, New York. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in her name to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Riverdale, New York.
